2)  Frontier theory also resulted in very hostile attitudes toward immigrants. Western expansion, especially the construction of railroads, provided many job opportunities for immigrants, specifically Chinese and Irish immigrants. Due to the large numbers of Chinese immigrants entering the country, they soon became the most hated group in the country, made evident by the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which prevented any more Chinese immigrants.
