I don’t really notice much about my ethnicity as I’m a very neutral person in society. My family doesn’t have any set rules/religions we follow that include our ethnicity. But I do notice that my grandma makes perogies homemade and that is totally Ukrainian. I live in the prairies of Saskatchewan, and we have very flat land here. I feel like since I live on a farm, I have a lot of freedom to do and choose what I want. I have attended church a few times in my life but don’t make a point of going everyday or anything like that. I’m not super religious nor is my family. My parents just chose to have me baptized when I was young so that I have a path to follow if I so choose. These are all important to me because it's time I get to spend with my family. On Christmas we always go to my grandma's house and have a big meal and open gifts. We have done that since I was super young and I can't imagine a year without going. On Easter we also go to my grandmas for an easter meal. It's much like Christmas but without the presents. Thanksgiving is important to me because on this day I think of all the things/people I'm thankful for. Which on just a normal day I don't really think about it. My parents have always been big on making sure I have a good life and feel safe. And the things I've learned from them have shaped me into who I am today. They always tell me to celebrate when I achieve something. They also always tell me to be kind to others no matter what the situation. They say to never be afraid to ask questions about anything if I'm confused or struggling. This is important to me because then I feel loved and I can also help others feel loved by being around them. We all know a bit of French, but not enough to speak it everyday. I feel like other languages can help you express who you are. I also think it's super cool to see how other languages translate into mine. I know some people may feel confused or upset if they hear someone speaking another language in public as they may think they're getting talked about. But I do coach young children soccer, lacrosse, and football. I think it's important because the young kids can see a ‘role model’ show examples of things when doing drills, etc. I also enjoy doing this because I feel that it's important to have women role models instead of it always being men around.
