Affects myself personally as my mum works for HPSNZ so she is gone for 8 weeks. This puts a strain on my family. However it also brings my family closer together as we tend to watch it together a few nights a week.

Creates interest in athletes that I didn't know prior to the event

The affects the Olympics has on others is very broad. The involved with Olympics may struggle with stress and/or joy. With hard work for preparation whilst also being involved is exciting.

Whilst others may get closer with family's as I stated with myself as it turns into a family activity. Some may just watch by themselves and others may have no impact from it.

Creating questions about the athletes abilities and what goes on behind the scenes

The Olympics have many positive and negative impacts on Society.

Positive:

Brings people from different cultures and backgrounds together

Celebrates athletes and sports as a whole, unlike other events

Brings tourists to business owners

Negative:

Brings up arguments (consists of steroid use, gender, etc.)

Can bring up worries of terrorist attacks, etc.

Social - Brings family and friends together

Political - Generates more issues and arguments

Economic - Tourism increases, helping businesses. However government spending on facilities increases.

Environmental - Infrastructure development harms the nearby environment and habitats of animals.

Ethical - The labor work committed prior to the Olympics can sometimes put the health of workers at risk.

Cultural - Cultures from all across the world can be brought together when celebrating the Olympics

Historical - The history of the Olympics is celebrated and remembered, bringing joy to people remembering the past of the Olympics. Also teaches people about the history of the place the Olympics is held.
