Brother Tarp is known as a leader to all of the other men. He Tarp tells the narrator that people think the narrator is doing good through his journey. He knows so much about everyone, and he knows how every member would feel about another. The narrator could see the his grandfather in Brother Tarps eyes because of how much of a leader he was to people.
