My MT focuses on keeping his class on task with group work, worksheets, and minimal lesson instruction. As the class cannot keep their attention for long, most if not all of the learning is incorporated in the activity, with little lecturing or talking from the teacher.

No. I have witnessed classroom management and problem solving mostly. Almost no formal instruction thus far.

My Mentor teacher provides background information for the lesson and then leads students through group work or worksheets to help them practice their learning. Activity is important for my mentor teacher's class, she tries to have the students do inquiry and analyze the core subject using the activity.

Since my mentor teacher teaches learning strategies and Phys Ed. there is not much lesson flow from a structural perspective. Mostly they keep the students on task and check in to ensure the students continue to participate after the initial instruction at the beginning of class.

My MT likes to begin each lesson with a hook to help build momentum. My teacher likes to start the class with a lesson and then focus on more hands on activities to keep the students attention.

My MT builds momentum and flow in his lesson delivery by starting with a minds-on, followed by a lesson and main activity where students get up and work, then finish with a consolidation and questions/discussion.

Yes. My MT has told me before a good assessment of if a class is ready to move on is if there is a lot of talking that occurs. Her strategy to mitigate this is to have continuous work assigned to the students in their booklet . For example, if we're starting a new unit, she will start by reviewing the lesson as a large group with the some examples and memorization strategies, then she might to a large group or small group game/activity and at the end, she assigns them homework to get started on. There's a general structure to her teaching flow.

Not really, my MT said there is no single right way to teach, and during my practicum, I mostly observed classroom management. Based on my lesson delivery, I tend to incorporate more classroom activities (such as using a specific length of string to build a rectangular prism and calculate its surface area) rather than just providing definitions and examples.

My MT ensures momentum and flow by establishing clear routines for her students. Every lesson begins with a short game/activity to introduce the topic; then, my MT delivers her main presentation/lesson; and finally, the students complete an activity/assignment as an exit ticket. The use of routines has helped my MT create a structured, predictable learning environment in which students always know what to expect. I've seen how clear classroom routines can minimize disruptions, save instructional time, and keep students engaged.

My teacher does a good job of this by doing a mind on activity to get the students engaged, whether it be a flashy article or question, or a cool video. This helps guide thme into the lesson.

My MT sets up momentum and flow by getting her students moving throughout the lesson in the gym. Once the class is in the gym she gets the movement momentum going by doing a group warm up to getting everyone moving and heart rates up, to get them ready for the activities of the day. Then she will do some mini games/slash practice drills to work on the sport of the day and then has them play the game.
