         <description><![CDATA[<div>May 7, 1954- the vietnamese took over a french base.&nbsp;<br>June 1, 1954-&nbsp; The US conducted psychological warfare and paramilitary activities in South Vietnam. Starting at the beginning of the Vietnam war.&nbsp;<br>November 2, 1963- Ngo Dinh Diem is assassinated by his own generals as part of a coup d’état that is carried out with the tacit support of U.S. officials. But in return, there were lots of US troops dumped into Vietnam. With 200 already dead.&nbsp;<br>March 1, 1966- a program was created to send more US troops in support of the south of Vietnam. So as result there ended up being 185,000 us troops with 2,700 troops dead. But the significance was completed by supporting the south side&nbsp;<br>on March 29, 1973- the end of the Vietnam war and the last US transport was completed back to America.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
