Jacques Cartier claimed the land for France around 1534. it wasn't until the 17th century that more permanent colonies were set up like Quebec city/New France.

First global war between the powerful empires and countries like France and Great Britain. known as the 7 years war, as the name implies it took 7 years for the war to end, with Britain emerging as the winner. France then gave Britain control and right over New France in the Americas and other small colonies. Britain then exiled only those that refused to swear loyalty to Britain's Royal crown.

Robert Latimer is a man that killed his own daughter with a severe disability of Cerebral Palsy. He justified his actions by saying that he did not want his daughter to suffer anymore. While many agreed with his reasoning many other people were against the idea of a merciful father that freed his daughter with death. His case impacted saskatchewan as a whole and set a precedent where parents cannot decide the fate of their disabled child by killing them and created a euthanasia law. The disabled person decides if they want to live or not.

Treaty 4 was one of 11 treaties signed within the years of 1871 - 1921. Treaty 4 was signed on september 15, 1874. Treaty 4 promised benefits for both sides of the treaty, the government and the First Nations. First Nations would receive annual pay and hunting rights in exchange for giving their land to the government.

The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) started being built on Feb 16, 1881 and was finished on November 7, 1885. the last bit of the CPR was finished on Craigellachie, BC. The lives of those that died during it's construction and many memorials were built to honor their lives like the Winged Victory. Many Chinese men went into caves with TNT sticks to clear the way which resulted in many cave ins and casualties.

after a long journey and not being able to step foot outside of the ship at any of the fueling spots, Komagata Maru arrived in Canada. passengers of the Komagata Maru were denied entry because they had violated the requirements for entry to Canada during their journey. they got there on may 3, 1914 and stayed on the ship until july 23, 1914 where they were told to head back. Of the 376 passengers, only 24 were allowed entry because they were returning from a trip to India, the rest were denied entry.

Many citizens of India had come to the Komagata Maru because of the requirements needed to enter Canada. from there they would need to make a direct trip towards Canada without getting off or stopping. it was an impossible journey because of the fuel and the people getting hungry and needing to use the washroom. There was a total of 376 passengers, 340 Sikhs, 24 Muslims, and 12 hindus.
