The article told us about why the boarding schools were made. the news article states in the text "These institutions were designed to kill the Indian in the child by forbidding them to speak their language, which disconnect them from their families and communities". There was an investigation on the schools. The causes were that the Western Shoshone Nation of Indians signed a treaty with the United States government over land in Nevada. the text states "The treaty was primarily one of friendship, not land cession (to give up something to someone else)."The US wanted to buy their land for 27 million and they didn’t want to sell it they didn’t want to give up on the land. The effects were the native American continue to fight. The US tried to offer them a huge amount of money.
