Children's Mercy has been around for over 120 years serving needy children in the Kansas City area. On the eve of the 20th Century, Alice Berry Graham and Katharine Berry Richardson, two sisters in Kansas City, started caring for one little girl. Then a few more kids came to be cared for, and then even more came. They welcomed and treated all children that came with no help from public sponsors or insurers

Happy Kits are bags full of activities and things for children of all different ages who are staying at Children's Mercy for treatment. Once I make them, I will deliver them to Children's Mercy, where they will distribute the bags to kids at the hospital.

This project actually ended up being very fun, meaningful, and something I am glad I was able to do. I learned that service can be as simple as spreading information about and organization, or it can be a whole day of raising money, volunteering, and hard work. For Children's Mercy, I learned a lot more information about them, their mission, their start, and how truly beneficial and helpful they are in the Kansas City community. I really did enjoy everything I did to help them in this service project. I wish I could see the kids that the Happy Kits go to, but I am sure that they will brighten their days and make whatever they are going through that much easier. This project overall had a huge impact on me.
