War Stories- Padlet by Brandon Est

There are two things Trevor loves more than anything else: playing war-based video games and his great-grandfather Jacob, who is a true-blue war hero. At the height of the war, Jacob helped liberate a small French village and was given a hero's welcome upon his return to America. Now it's decades later, and Jacob wants to retrace the steps he took during the war-from training to invasion to the village he is said to have saved. Trevor thinks this is the coolest idea ever. But as they get to the village, Trevor discovers there's more to the story than what he's heard his whole life, causing him to wonder about his great-grandfather"s heroism, the truth about the battle he fought, and the importance of genuine valor.

I think that it was alright, however the book could very rapidly change themes and or introduce new characters. Only a few pages after their tires get slashed and a dead bird is on their window wiper, we find out that the blond girl was one of the spies. I would personally give this a three star rating. A little too fast, a little too ambitious with the wording, etc.

Jacob Firestone, or G.G, is a main character who tells the stories we hear, with a sort of flashback segment.

Trevor Firestone is the grandson of G.G, and he is mostly there to push the reasoning on going to France. He is very interested in war, and has read books, played video games, and reenacted many parts of the war.

The group who has been watching the family is a very secretive anomaly. The main form of it is a girl with pale skin and blond hair. She is mainly seen spying on the family as they go from place to place.

"War can be heroic, but also destructive." -Trevor

This is important because it shows that the story that is told in most war stories any shows the heroism instead of the pain and suffering the citizens went through.

Hey, Gordon,

I just wanted to say that I'm a fan of the books that you make, and they are all interesting in their own way. I recently read your book "War Stories." I've noticed that you like to write stories about the war. Why is that? I'll just assume that you or some relative or friend participated in the army. If so, thank you. I do still have some criticism. For one, some of your books go very quickly. In "War Stories," a lot of events happen in a short period of time. In "Linked," Lincoln

doesn't have that much reason for his actions at the end, and just very quickly goes to his Bar Mitzvah.

So in the end, I just hope that you make your books a little slower. This way, it won't be crammed to the max with action and would be longer.
