Successful collaboration is about knowledge and life-long learning.

I always knew that the librarian at my local library was smart and that the first teacher-librarian that I spent some time TOCing for was very intelligent but the depth and breadth of knowledge that a teacher-librarian must obtain is enormous. A daunting task to achieve and an essential asset to possess. As if information literacy and critical thinking had not been enough, teacher librarians must now boldly leap into the the modern digital world of every changing media Web 2.0 tools and social networking platforms. The list is long, the web is wide and a teacher-librarian's own information literacy and critical thinking skills must be honed. Knowledge of information, concepts, digital tools, print resources, curriculum connections, teaching practices and and and... I think to successfully collaborate with colleagues the TL must continue to be a "Jack or Jill of all trades" and be willing to learn for life. Doing so allows creates opportunities for the TL to connect and collaborate with colleagues on all kinds of levels. The potential is limitless and exciting.

Successful collaboration must include a responsive and meaningful professional learning network.

When I started this course my journey with Twitter had only just begun. I admit that I still haven't tweeted much but I feel that Twitter makes others - colleagues, community members, professional so much more accessible. As our work and personal lives are so busy, Twitter allows me to keep up to date, to explore new ideas, to connect and become engaged with all kinds of concepts, thoughts and practices that inform my professional practice as a teacher, teacher-librarian and a life-long learner.

I love Padlet, it feels like online sticky notes and I love sticky notes. Blogging has always felt a bit arduous, Padlet feels easier to use. I am already trying to figure out how I am going to use this tool in my kindergarten/grade 1 classroom.

I prefer print over digital text but totally see the value of "multi-modal" options, especially for meeting the needs of diverse learners. Who knows, maybe I personally will take the leap someday. All I know is that when I am back country hiking in the Rockies, lugging my paper novel around with me is worth it as the batteries don't run out.

Symbaloo - well, thank you for introducing this handy resource. Its my "favourites" accessible anywhere and all the time. Plus, it makes it easier to share with my network as I can send them a mix instead of repeatedly saying "I will send you the link".

How can I use the IPad that I have attached to my room to meet the needs of some of the more diverse learners that I have in my current classroom?

As I am currently not in a Teacher-Librarian situation, how can I collaborate and co-create with my school's teacher-librarian to enhance the learning of the students in my class.

What can I do to advocate for my library and my teacher-librarian? It seems obvious that as someone who has been in the role of teacher-librarian but who is currently a classroom teacher, I am best suited to help my classroom colleagues see and invest in the value of the skills of the teacher-librarian and what the library has to offer.
