According to Ratliff, transmission is a thing some of the singers do which is the transparent in their voices. To illustrate, when they sing they sing as if they're singing from somewhere else "ventriloquist" but with contrasting themselves and other forces ( Ratliff, 48).

Ratliff's Argument.

A) I agree with Ratliff's argument.
B) I agree with Ratliff's argument about the musical element. Most singers when they sing they go transparent in their voices and when they do it they feel like they own other forces but with an obvious contrast between themselves and the forces they feel like they're owning it while they are singing.

Singers when they sing, they sing with respect especially for those who includes their family, wife, husband, or even their best friend in their song, when it comes to them they show all respect while their singing for them. Singers focus on objects we sometime don't notice it.But when they go transparent in their voices, in this case we notice it. Just like in this song by John Lennon, when he reaches to the part where he mentions his girlfriend's name he stretches on the tone but with respect.

"Formalists believe that music, in and of itself means nothing, or has nothing to do with the world of emotions." (Ratliff,49).
It actually depends on how the composer is delivering the idea of the song or the way he uses the material of the song such as the rhythm,tones,etc.., but sometimes it has nothing to do with emotions , sometimes the listener would look for something that w=could please her/his ears
