         <title>Strategies/Techniques That Illustrate Neurophysiology of Learning</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>Pattern Recognition: When the brain matches information from the environment and connects it to information already learned. </p></li><li><p>Movement: The brain adapts to incoming stimuli and learns what to take in to learn. If our brains tried to "recognize" stimuli it takes in we would never be able to attend to any task. Movement helps our brain take in the important information and focus on the correct stimuli. Most of this is unconscious in the brain's thinking and processing. For example, when teachers teach lessons, their students will be more engaged when they move about the classroom instead of just standing still in front of the room.</p></li><li><p>Executive Function: Enables us to be task focused and goal oriented. Working memory requires us to hold and use stimuli in a short period of time. Working Memory is an executive function of the brain and the executive function of the brain is an integral part of the cognitive processing system.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

The human brain has many complex parts working together to help us read, write, and learn. The Cerebral Cortex, the Visual Cortex, and  the Temporal and Frontal Lobes are all integral parts of the human brain that work together to process information and acquire knowledge. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>Motivational States: Teachers understand that these are controversial connections that require emotional connections and requirements. </p></li><li><p>Emotions are considered to be an integral part of learning: Emotions get stored in LTM (Long Term Memory) along with cognitive information and thus the two become related in the brain.</p></li><li><p>Motivation and Emotions are linked to cognitive processing and affect learning. When both are managed at consistent levels they are scientifically shown to have a positive outcome on learning experiences.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>It is important for educators to have an understanding of how the brain normally, or typically develops as it ties in directly to how students learn. How the brain develops is influenced by several outside influences like genetics, environment, and nutrition. These influences begin while the baby is growing and have lasting implications long after the baby is born. The brain is not fully done with its wiring and rewiring until the age of 25 but it is mostly developed by the time a child is 5 years old. During the teenage years, the brain begins to alter in structure and goes through some major changes. Brain development impacts all types of learning: auditory, visual, motor, emotional, and language.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1. Sensory/Motor Development: The brain grows rapidly during the first few years of life affecting vision, hearing, and fine motor skills. Young children need active stimulation to help them develop or they could experience learning problems when they are older.</p><p><br/></p><p>2. Language Development: During the first five years of life, the brain develops most of its language abilities. It is vital that young children be immersed in oral and written language experiences. This is why it is so important to read to babies. Research shows that children who do not have adequate exposure to language when they are young will struggle in their language proficiencies during the early school years and possibly longer. </p><p><br/></p><p>3. Brain Development and Technology: Increased use of computers and other forms of technology from an early age naturally have an effect on brain development. Information from technology is often quick, repetitive, and interactive causing the brain to be fully engaged and this can lead to some children being over stimulated. Research has shown how reading a book and working on a computer engage and develop different parts of the brain. It is critical that children engage their growing brains in "unplugged" ways to promote healthy brain development.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Historically speaking, research in brain and behavior sciences shows a disconnect in how the brain relates to learning, but times are changing and educational researchers are growing in their understanding and beliefs of how learning occurs is directly linked to how the brain processes information. For example, the science of reading is an approach to teaching reading based on research of how the brain processes language and information. This understanding has been a game changer for teaching students and educators about how the brain learns to read.</p>]]></description>

Early Childhood Education is important: The amount of interaction and learning that occurs in infancy and during the preschool years sets the academic stage for learning during the elementary school years. Early intervention programs and brain research supports these findings.</p><p> </p><p>2.Teaching and learning must be planned with the understanding of how cognitive processes evolve: Educators must take into account that not all students will pay attention when they are teaching. Teachers must understand the different ways students attend to tasks and use this understanding when teaching.</p><p><br/></p><p>3.Learning is complex in nature: Over time, learning theories have emerged to show the complexity of how learning occurs and teachers need to understand this and use this knowledge in how they deliver instruction to promote student learning.  </p>]]></description>
