People from different cultures should not celebrate Kwanzaa because the holiday was made for the black community: "For the black community, Kwanzaa is not just any 'black holiday.' It is a recognition that knowledge of black history is worthwhile" (Paragraph 4). This means the the Kwanzaa holiday was made so that African Americans can celebrate their heroes and learn about their African heritage.

People from different cultures should be able to celebrate Kwanzaa. In the text it states, “The speaker, a veteran of the Nashville civil rights movement, spoke about Kwanzaa as a time of memory and celebration.Wearing an African dashiki, a colorful garment for the upper body, he led those in attendance – blacks and whites and those of other ethnicities – in Kwanzaa songs” (Dobson 1). In other words the veteran from Nashville led the audience. This is significant because as a reread the text it says blacks and white and those of other ethnicities which means people other than blacks/people who had a African ancestry, this shows can show that people are willing to celebrate Kwanzaa because they want to go forward in life and support those who oppressed by the world.

In the text , What the Kwanzaa holiday means for black Americans, an article provided by Newsela, we explore different ethnicities celebrating Kwanzaa. In the text it states “he led those in attendance – blacks and whites and those of other ethnicities – in Kwanzaa songs.” ( Paragraph 18). He being a veteran of Nashville Civil Rights movement was guiding those who are and are not black in Kwanzaa songs .This is significant because it implies that other ethnicities wanted to learn and actually care about African heritage. They want to learn and be able to understand someone else’s culture and join them when celebrating. To sum it up, people from different cultures should be able to celebrate Kwanzaa because not only are they learning African heritage, they appreciate it and wanting to celebrate it.

In the context from the text, people with different cultures shouldnt be able to celebrate kwanzaa. In the article, Frank Dobson states, “For the black community, Kwanzaa is not just any "black holiday." It is a recognition that knowledge of black history is worthwhile” (Frank Dobson 4). This means, different cultures should not be able to celebrate Kwanzaa as they haven't been oppressed and gone through the same as African-Americans. It's a holiday for African-Americans to celebrate their culture and their people, therefore different cultures shouldnt be celebrating it.
