One of the harms identified is The therapists lack of knowledge surrounding a topic would come under the work within the limits of your own skill section, due to the HCPC stating that you should only work with your skill set and train up if you want to.

A second harm identified is the Malpractice and boundary violations with regards to texting the service user would come under confidentiality, due to the fact that there would be no anonymity in the texts.

One potential harm from therapy can be the personal characteristics of the therapist, which maps onto responsibility and integrity.
Another harm from therapy is a breaching of boundaries when the therapist seeks to push their own agenda. This also maps onto responsibility and integrity as it is the therapists job to avoid harming the client and respect their boundaries

While the therapist is the professional in therapy sessions, they have a responsibly to ensure that their clients are comfortable throughout their session in order to reduce harm. However, some clients had reported that their sessions were too intense and wanted simpler and more functional help. The therapist has a responsibility to listen to the client and work with them in order to help them and reduce as much harm as possible. By providing an intense therapy sessions to an individuals who is not comfortable with that level of intensity there is a risk of causing more harm than good.

One of the harms that I identified was a pre-therapy factor. Negative feelings surfaced for clients because their own expectations for the therapist's behaviour were breached. This relates to the 'promote and protect the interests service users and carers' standard of conduct from the HCPC.

Another harm which I identified was a relationship factor. Negative feelings were expressed by a client due to detachment from their therapist. This could have been foreseen by the therapist and accounted for. The client also referred to the therapist being threatening and shame-inducing in their communication style. These issue relate to the 'Manage risk'. This was actually made worse by the therapists actions.

The HCPC standard Communicate Effectively was relevant throughout the results section.
It could be identified in the "Client experience and expectations" factor, with the patient testimony 6 "I entered therapy having little idea…what I was getting into.". This could be due to poor communication of what will be expected of the service user, including the length of the course early into the therapy.
Additionally this standard has been identified in the 'Client not being heard/understood' factor in the following quote "the therapist is experienced as too distant, defensive, or un-attuned to clients' emotions". This could be due to poor interpersonal skills delivered by the therapist causing miscommunication.
