What led to the French Revolution? Thanks to King Louis the XVI he made the events to start the Revolution. First he was wasting lots of money. He spent it on two wars, one with the Americans. More than 90% of the citizens were peasants. The rest were nobles and royalty. Because France was spending so much money on the war, they had to have large taxes. This led to the people revolting and starting the Revolution.
