What is the pipeline, who is protesting

This pipeline will cost $3.7 billion and will transport oil from North Dakota to Illinois. Native Americans, like the Standing Rock Sioux, are protesting because this will be right under the Mississippi River, which is a drinking source. Also, it will be built where the Indians sacred ground is.

Through what tribal countries, states, and tribal lands would it cross? Identify the stakeholders on either side and summarize the argument?

This pipeline would cover 1,172 miles of land from Montana would border Canada, into South Dakota,Iowa and Illinois. It would cross into the Standing Rock Sioux tribal lands.Trump is in support of this because it will be a big economic boost and it would free up railways for crops. The Indians are not for this because it will destroy their burial, praying and special artifacts.

Using evidence, complete an analysis of the Dakota Access Pipeline, focus specifically on who will benefit and who will suffer as a result of the pipeline. What are some actual/potential benefits of the pipeline? How about actual/potential drawbacks?

The developer of Energy Partners said that it would be an economic boon, and that it decrease the US reliance on foreign oil. The Indians will suffer because it will go through their sacred lands, and could have environmental concerns for everyone else. Some benefits is that it would make it easier to get oil and put more crops on trains to be delivered and add lots of construction jobs. A drawback is that it would cost a lot of money and would take a long time to do with lots of people protesting.

What might account for such differing views on construction of the pipeline? Trump supports it because he believes it will serve in the national interest and he had cancelled the Obama administrations order. The other reasons for there being lots of differing views on the construction of the pipeline is that those people who have been given the job to build it might be for or not for the pipeline will study build it anyway because of there job. Another reason there could be differing views is that it can ruin the water supply and their has been so much violence already that, that could have made people wonder if all this is really worth it sometimes.

The issues were that the Indians, who are people and have all the same rights, were getting their scared land destroyed because of this pipeline and even though they protested their voices were not getting really heard especially when the police had came and stopped these protests mostly violently

What opportunities and challenges come with using social media as a platform for taking action? Social media gives people the right to express their opinion on if the pipeline should be created or not. That being said a lot of people might get into verbal fights or taking what people say wrong. Social media can either support or demote or both sides of the story as to if this pipeline is even good or not.

My thoughts is that the construction is providing lots of jobs for people and can make more room certain trains to transport crops easier, but that it is not a good idea. This is because people who have their own belief and religion want to keep living their loves how it was and I definitely think that their sacred land should not be destroyed. Also it can ruin their water supply and have more pollution making people sick. Also it costs lots of money just to build it and will cost more in the future if any problems arise.
