After this charlie actually improves, his writing, speech, and his intellect, in general, get better, but he also starts to realize the world around him is better, his friends at work are not friends but bullies that take advantage of him, he is let go from his work as they are uncomfortable with his new intelegance as he is a new person at this point. one coworker tell him that what he did was not right. 

before this, he was a nice honest, and ordinary guy, with "friends" at his side but he start to have a hard time connecting with people around him as his intelligence started to become hyper-intelligence. Charlie was a presenter to the America psychology association along with Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss with their eraser to cure intellectual disability and medical procedures to improve the inelegance of a person, it was a big hit. 

Charlie also realizes the intelligence and behavior of the 2 doctors and evaluates both of them their pros and cons as a doctor, showing Charlie's perception of the people now surrounding him.  

Charlie's struggles to connect and interact with people is starting to infuriate him as Dr. Nemure is starting to avoid him because Charlie is making him have an inferiority complex as Charlie's knowledge and intellect far surpasses a well know and respected doctor. His lunch with Ms.Kinnain in no better, just doesn't understand what he means even when he tries to keep the complicated thing out.

later is learned that Algenon is not the only one, all the other animals that when trough the operation are exploiting the same behavior, charlie realizes this and what to know more about it and so he is granted a lab to do his own research because he knows very well this is going to happened and has some unspecified time left with his intelegance

Algernon was reported to have a motor impairment, loss of coordination, and the case of heavy amnesia. he dies 5 days after this report. charlie now sad about Algernon's passing has isolated himself so the few friends he has don't need to see his mental regression and confess to suicidal thoughts. to prove this he now writes of reading memories as, he can't remember reading certain books, places, and foreign languages, and his decreasing loss of motor control that even writing is decreasing in quality fast.

He has no money and has to return to his old job as a janitor but before that, Ms.Kinnian and Charlie cried together for both misfortune. He wants to be smart again and he wants to be with her but that's not possible and he feels more worthless with more passing by. 

the company let charlie have his old job back. while it awkward having to work back there charlie rationalized it into not carrying and barring through it. he still has a few left friends that were actually his friend after he word off a guy who attempt to humiliate charlie, some are still friends but not all, and charlie is happy because of it. 

after this incident with Ms.Kannian charlie vows to himself to get smart, to earn back what he used to have with this journey. he packs his stuff to go to new york and hopefully comes back a little smarter. Charlie was a man's child from the beginning resenting his low intelligence and wanting the intelligence so he can learn with other people because of the mental or intellectual disability he was born with, but still happy and naive to the people he surrounds himself with that he sees as friends, even with "accident" and "joke" from the police officer been good guys to proclaiming not hating Algernon and to be his friend after he learns the similarity between them. 

he gets his wish to be smart but is isolated and lonely as his connection with others is stretched because of his intelegance. 

Charlie's friendship with Mis. Kinnan as well as a student with the teacher, to begin with, and Ms.Kinnian says charlie was her best student. this grows into a relationship with each which in the future has to end because of Charlie's depression and mental regressing with charlie at the end vowing to read and learn as much as he can. 

Dr. Nemur is friendly with charlie but also continues his pursuit in his research with charlie as the main subject. Charlie considers him a friend of sorts when the doctor doesn't and cares more for his work than charlie. later he is nervous and anxious as Charlie overshadows him with his own intelligence and charlie is irritated by the Doctor as he is considered a genius. 

Charlie's friendship with Dr.Strauss is better than with Dr.Nemur as he is more involved with charlie and is the surgeon for charlie's operation to solve and cure his disability. he is supports during charlie's self-isolating and amnesia episodes. 

His friend is just bullied as charlie finds out in the middle o
f the stories as they laugh and taunt him, and he resents them from then after. Few do care about when he returns and protect him ad treasure him and he is tough for this 

from the beginning he is happy and at peace with the life he knows in th story but is more depressed and stressed after the operation to cure him of his disability making it seem like a bad retreat for him, but in the end, he changes. With things as it were back to the beginning for charlie's intelligence he is not the same even with this, knowing what to expect, he is more confident more sure of himself and his friends on what needs to be done as he writes his last page he goes on a just lie to get back as much as he can like a ship off into the ocean not fro gold, but his past true potential.
