For example, when making our poster for the Shark Tank Project, a glitter gel got all over our paper and covered some very important aspects of the poster. I also learned about other peoples cultures and backgrounds. We learned about the healthy foods for instead of eating fats you can eat a avocado, because it has good fats. My favorite things that I learnt in Home Economics was sewing and cooking. For cooking, we learnt that via the pizza project, where we prepared a pizza. We put the ingredients on a small replica of pizza dough and toasted it. We then put it in to cook, and we had a yummy snack as a result. For sewing, we learnt that via the wild horse project. In the project, we made a story for a horse, and we got materials. We were then showed demonstrations on how to sew. We then constructed it with the shown instructions, and we got unique horses with different felt designs.

I learned a lot of things this school year, made friends and loved everything about it. One of the projects that we did this year which was near to the end of may was the birthday presentation. One thing I've learned from this class is how to sew better. My sister always asks my older sister to help her sew different clothes, and since she is in collage she can't help as often. I've learnt to sew with the "Wild Horse" project, and the different sewing ways to stitch something up. For example, the running stitch, the basting stitch, the backstitch, the blanket stitch, etc. I've learned how to sew with different colors, patterns, and commutation skills with my partner. Some things I learned in home economics that I would like others to know are styling and planning. My two favorite projects were the Mood Board and "Style My Birthday". I really enjoyed making the Mood board because I got a chance to show how I like to style clothes and explore more fashion choices. The Mood Board also helped me learn how to match clothes and accessories properly because I had to stick to my theme/inspiration. As for the "Style My Birthday" project I really enjoyed planning out my dream party because it is something that I would like to have. I am so glad I took Home Economics this year- I learned so many new things! I was taught how to hand-sew correctly, and different sewing methods I could use in the future. In addition to this, I also learned how to cook and prepare food with the pizza project we completed in April, along with knowledge on where food should be stored and ways to eat healthy. The last thing that was a pleasure to learn was the power of teamwork and good communication when working in a group. When we did the Cookie Project, my whole group was not sharing information with each other and doing things wrong, but we later figured out how to work in a fully sufficient team with these skills.

We have been following Gabriel's progress regarding his work in your class and just wanted to express how proud we are of how far he has come.

Although arts and crafts are not his strong suite, he showed constant improvement as the months progressed and interest in doing the best that he could on each assignment.

We were particularly impressed with one of his final deliverables within his class journal, where he needed to display a costume that was representative of his culture, when he showed us the folkloric dress that he selected and drew by hand! This was not something he would have even attempted before your class.

We know he would have wanted to spend more time doing cooking assignments, as that was his expectation at the beginning of the year, but we believe he came to realize that the other skills from the class acquired throughout the year were just as useful and rewarding.

Now Gabriel doesn't ask for a snack... he asks for "Snack Boards" and corrects us if it is not presented properly ;-).

We are very proud of Gabriel and want to recognize all his achievements in Home Economics this year!

I saw Ryan's work and just wanted to say how proud I am!

Ryan put a lot of thought into his apron design and I really like how it turned out.

He learned a lot about nutrition, and as a result, has been making healthy choices.

I was impressed at how he learned how to sew and the horse pillow he completed. It turned out great!

Finally, I was proud of Ryan's Dream Birthday Party Project. I can tell he put a lot of effort into the project. He was able to incorporate skills he learned in his Career Tech class with his PowerPoint presentation. He was also very comfortable with giving his presentation, thanks in part to his Public Speaking class. The details he put into his plan were impressive. It was awesome to see everything come together towards the end of the school year with this project. He did a great job!

Things I would like my parents to know about this class is that it taught me how to communicate and work with other people through the cookie project. This year I was able to learn how to make a pizza out of a tortilla! This helped me learn that making a pizza doesn't always require a dough. Before I had joined this class thought Home Ec would just be an easy elective where I'd get to eat, but as soon as I joined the class it became so much more. Some skills I learned through out the year are sewing and easy cooking. My favorite project we did this year was the horse sewing project. The horse sewing project was my favorite project because my partner and I learned how to sew and we made a stuffed horse together. My second favorite thing that we did in class this year was making pizza. I'm so grateful for all the memories, and learning opportunities that were created in this class.

Before I join this class, I was afraid of sharing things out and sharing my idea to another person. This year, in Home Ec. I had learn how to work together, cook, and also share my project or ideas to other peoples. Not only this class was fun, but it had teach me a lot of life skills. I enjoyed making PIZZA because I had a lot fun making pizza and it was good. I am grateful that Ms. Lawford was pay all the things that we need to make the pizza. I learned how to cook and make food from that project. I learn how to eat healthy and stay healthy. I always thought eating healthy means eating salad. But after taking this class, I learned that eating healthy doesn't always mean eating salad and vegetables. It means to eat fruit, vegetables, grains, and meat. I also learn that eating healthy is important to keep your body energic. Thank you Ms. Lawford!

I had learned this year in Home Economics so many things but for me the most important ones are learning how to sew by doing the Wild Horse project. I think learning how to sew is very important because I will definitely use it later in life. Another example of something that I had learned in Home Economics is partnership meaning learning how to work with others to create something which in my opinion is very important. My last thing that I learned in Home Economics that matters is being organized by turning your work on time doing things neatly and good I learned this throughout my journal. Home Economics taught a lot of stuff and I'm thankful for every single one because even though sometimes its hard I know I will use it someday.

One thing I want my parents to know about this class that I learned is that I learned how to sew, cook, and work in a cooperative group. The Wild Horse project taught me so many valuable skills. If I ever need to fix a thread in my shirt, sew on a button, or do a blanket stitch, my knowledge from this project will be there to help. The construction of the pizza's was so creative and fun! Making them on tortillas was smart and taught me that there are always other options when it comes to ingredients. Lastly, the Shark Tank was incredibly challenging, yet entertaining. I learned that in a functional team, everyone has a role, and communication is one of the most crucial things to have.

I think that the Wild Horse project gave me some valuable skills such as basic sewing safety and tips. Overall though I would choose the Shark Tank project as the most valuable. I think that the Shark Tank project was the best for my learning because it taught me teamwork as well as using my time correctly. Although the most enjoyable for me is the King Cake because it was fun to do hands on cooking and eating it was also a nice touch. Finally the pizza was also a fun assignment for mostly the same reasons as the King Cake assignment.

Something that I likes about this class is when we did the Wild Horse project. It was very fun partnering up with someone and making the story. Sewing was my favorite part. My favorite project of 2024-2025 schoolyear was the pizza project we did. This project taught me how pizza can be made with dough or not. This also taught me what it is like to make the pizza with cooking the tortilla, adding the sauce and cheese, and lastly what it is like to put the pizza in the oven. My other favorite project was the Shark tank. I really liked this project cause it taught me not just how to work in a group but also what it is like to be part of a group. I am very happy that when I put this on my course card I was chosen for it.

My favorite project has to be the "I Made a Pizza" Project. We started with tortillas, and we added extra virgin olive oil and then we put it on the stovetop. It was extremely fun watching it bubble up and having a nice crisp look for the crust of the pizza. Then we added tomato sauce and herbs and finally we put it in the oven to cook. When it came out it was a delicious cheesy pizza that perfectly blended the cheese, sauce, and herbs while having a homemade taste. Overall, the project is really beneficial as the project gave me great cooking skills and the feeling of making something amazing.

Something I would like my parents to know about is all the fun projects we have done this year. Especially the Mardi Gras cake project! I love how it turned out, and how we combined a holiday with cooking. I also really liked The Wild Horse Project because it taught me a lot of stuff that I didn't know about sewing. These two projects (especially the Wild Horse Project) will help me out later in life because every time you do something new, you learn something knew. This year in Home Economics I learned many things that will be very useful to me in the future. In the beginning of the year we learned how to sew and towards the end we learned how to cook. Those things are very helpful and important to me. We learned about how to eat healthier and better foods then the ones usually eat everyday which is important for our health. But we also learned thing like communication and teamwork in the shark tank project which are skills that are very important for anything in life. I think the charcuterie board was the thing that I learned from. I learned to correctly make a charcuterie board. I actually used it to make one. I also learned some things about sewing from the journals. When I ripped a shirt playing football I sewed it back together using what I learned. Something I really enjoyed doing and learning in this class was learning how to perfect my culinary skills. It's truly a very necessary and useful learning experience. I also liked learning how to plan my meals and how to choose the right food when shopping. I also liked learning about precautions when cooking. It's always good to be sure of how you'll prepare your dishes and what to do to avoid any mistakes during the process.

My favorite project of the year for Home EC was the Mardi Gra Kings Cake. In my opinion it was the greatest, most organized, and best tasting project the classes of Home EC did. Everything was included in this project. History, culture, planning, and different cooking skills. It was enjoyable to be in a lively group making a cinnamon filling and then designing our cake. The project was fast and creative, plus the end result was delicious. This project was amazing.
