Marilyn Wedge is a family therapist who strongly condemns the prescription and use of psychotropic drugs in her book Suffer The Children. Wedge’s concern sparks from the rising number of clients she’s received who are troubled by the prospect of an array of psychiatric disorders. She believes the recent increase in pronounced mentally ill children is invalid. Wedge blames society for relying on drugs and psychiatrically labeling what she calls normal childhood behavior and reactions. In replacement to medication, Wedge suggests alternative methods of family therapy to rule out psychiatrical diagnoses and i don’t know what because i didn’t actually read that part! but … OBVIOUSLY she believes in therapy bc she’s a freaking therapist. PLUS she uses like one freaking fact the entire time. ugh im over itttt

Together they discuss the side effects of the drugs and how that affected their daily lives. The subjects discuss and array of complications like how certain medications can increase risk of disease, lead to the need more more medication, cause other mental issues, and deplete sex life. Additionally, the subjects talk about how normal teenage struggles can complicate the diagnosis and treatment of disorders.
