I think I fall in the Active/ Adaptation blocks on the Technology Integration Matrix. As a first grade teacher, I spend a lot of time, teaching my students how to use the technology available to them. So I start out at the Adoption level and move into the adaption level as soon as possible. Right now we have a desk top in our room for student use, a desk top computer lab, three lap top labs that we can use in our room. a document camera (teacher use only), and a Promethean Board. By the end of the first semester, I would like to move into the collaborative, constructive and adaptation areas on the matrix. I would like to move into the infusion category also but I feel that I am hindered in this are by lack of technology in our building. The lap top lab have to be checked out and are shared by the entire building. At this time, I mostly use them to test the whole class in Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math. To more fully integrate the technology into my classroom, I need lessons that utilize the technology that I have. I also need to check out the labs on a regular basis so we have access to them. We already go to the computer lab twice a week, so they can use those computers if I have lessons designed for that purpose. I also need to find more learning activities /lessons that use the Promethean Board.
