I think as ed-tech lessons are pre-planned, more careful and thoughtful planning takes place although this might also be true for pen and paper lessons

Think: students need more prompts to help them to stay engaged throughout the lessons. The tool like Quizizz forced students to activate what they have learnt through the notes in the process of answering the questions. It created a competitive ambience as they are competing among each other as they think it is fair when they are using the same set of notes (starts from the same starting line)

Wonder: if we will be able to conduct lessons that achieve the same effects without tech.

Wonder: If we have lower tech use in class, it would mean proper lesson planning to ensure key inquiry questions are specifically included in class.

Absence of real life experience when focused only on knowledge content

Think: Students want more than just 'understanding the content'. They want to be able to apply the knowledge.

Wonder: Do students simply assume that 'teacher talk' = low level of learning? Or is it their attention that needs to be trained to truly understand what teachers are saying (even if there's no tech)?

Even with pen and paper, a teacher made the lesson exciting with real objects / things students are interested in.

I do wonder if tech can help to increase equity and consistency, esp. with teacher shortage, and differences in teacher capacity and competency.

Formative assessment (FA) would also need to be embedded to ensure all students are aligned with the lesson objectives.

Digital platforms like Quizziz and Nearpod can provide personalized learning paths for students.

The use of tech should depend on the situation. Honestly in the classroom, after the students use the tech for lesson, they will immediately drift off to surf the internet and be totally distracted. The use of tech is momentary, but the use of the device leads them to remember they have a tik tok video, or whatsapp conversation. Just walk into a class and you will see that.
