In organizing the physical space the tools that will aid a classroom built for learning will include, a desk set up that is inclusive and allows students to collaborate while maintaining personal space in the center of the classroom. There will be clear organization and structure so that assignments, work, and activity utensils stay organized, which students can personally utilize around their 'groups' desk space. Cubbies/personal storage space that is labeled with each students' names for personal belongings. A play area for indoor recess/play or break times, in one corner of the room and the reading circle in the opposite corner.

How will this be displayed? Aside from rules being posted in the front of the classroom, the management of instructional groups, and management of transitions will be utilized.
An example of this is: assigning certain roles to certain students, having students line up in a certain order, having a procedure for when students back their bags to leave for the day, and how students transition from classroom to classroom.

Managing Student Behavior

The expectations within the classroom, monitoring of student behavior, and response of student misbehavior are all encapsulated within this topic. For expectations within the classroom. There should not only be visual reminders of the classroom rules but verbal reminders by the teacher of what is expected of the students. In monitoring student behavior, positive reinforcement usually works; maybe using the idea of each student having a personal punch card and one the whole card is filled the student receives a toy/sticker/something special. When responding to student misbehavior, the teacher should respond on a case to case basis. For example, talking during quiet time should have different implications than causing harm to another student. First and foremost the teacher should attempt to avoid complete distraction of the classroom while dealing with the misbehavior if possible.

What does a classroom built for learning look like? It's important to establish high expectations, encourage students to have positive interactions with one another, give students a voice during class, make the classroom a safe place, be a model for student behavior, give feedback often, let students know it's okay to make mistakes, and let have students understand why they're learning certain things in class. Overall, it's essential to create of culture of learning within the classroom.
An example of this could be having students recite the classroom affirmations in the beginning of each day that works to build student confidence and positivity among the group.
