How to interpret the Scriptures

Just like what Fr. Vic Salanga has said in the video, reading the Bible is a surprising, and enriching experience, and I would also like to say the same thing after watching his learning-filled lesson. Personally, I am someone who barely reads the Bible prior going to a Catholic university back in Senior High School, now, also pursuing my undergraduate in a Catholic school. As a result, I was not as knowledgeable when it came to religious teachings, and practices on a deeper grasp, and on a spiritual view point, as compared to now, somehow; I am learning from the Holy Scriptures itself, as well as gaining different perspectives from different people that I think is essential for me to have various point of views which leads me to process the texts beyond the surface level of comprehension, and to not merely just read them on the Bible, and take it as it is.

Reading the Bible challenges you to think critically, and scrutinize the text based on your own understanding which enables you to formulate your own new meanings rather than just what the author intends to deliver to its readers. And that the Bible uses different literary forms as the authors of the scriptures are also different, that the compiled stories which make up the Bible are written by various authors that have different experiences, and may have used different forms as to how they have constructed their own chapters in the book.

Proverbs 2:6-10

6. It is the Lord who gives wisdom; from Him come knowledge and understanding.

7. He provides help and protection for those who are righteous and honest

8. He protects those who treat others fairly, and guards those who are devoted to Him

9. If you listen to me, you will know what is right, just, and fair. You will know what you should do.

10. You will become wise, and your knowledge will give you pleasure.

Author meaning:

We could only obtain wisdom, comprehension, divine protection, loathe inequality, and possess moral values by seeking it from Almighty Godself as He is the root of all things, and the source of all that is seen, and unseen by human beings.

Text meaning:

The verses personally resonate with me, as I constantly pray to God to give me enough knowledge about certain things, and protection for me, and my family everyday. Praying helps me get through the good, and bad times as I talk to God about everything, and ask for guidance to lead me to the right path. In my opinion, praying also helps me become closer to God spiritually, and that it strengthens my spiritual relationship with Him. Especially verse nine of Proverbs chapter two, as I have always been advocating for what is right, just, and fair. I am someone who truly detest injustices, whether it is about me, my loved ones, or those who do not have the means to defend themselves just because it is beyond their capacity to do so.
