It's another way to strip indigenous people of their territorial rights without having to physically remove them from their land.

Because surely all of them saw what the United States was doing and knew what they were trying to do - right? Or was it a "as long as we have our land we have some autonomy in this country"?

Another question I have how exactly did the United States control native commerce? Aside from laws, did they have checkpoints that they sent their stuff to in order for it to get approved? What systems did they have in place to enforce the law?
