Why is the canopy walk closed until November? Everyday i walk back home I am afraid that I will get attacked. Recently, there was a stabbing case at the Monash BRT. This is affecting the wellbeing of students. Furthermore, when it rains, we literally can't walk home. And if you say the shuttle bus is your solution, its not. The shuttle bus is a good idea but its very poorly executed. I literally never see it, and for students who walk home late, theres no shuttle bus as well. So do better.

There have been a number of instances where the automated doors on the mezzanine floor did not work, as in the screen manages to scan and identify the person but the doors don’t open. As the librarians are not there at night, I’ve seen people jumping over the doors as they don’t have a way to get through. Could the councils settle this issue with the library?

As students keep coming to us for fund raising, it’s making me to question about what’s the key of doing community service subjects, is it only fund raising can help them😅? although students can say no but most of us are guilt trip by it. The problem is that sitting in college / uni studying will have 3-5 groups coming for fund raising. If rm3 for one group ( 5x3 = 15myr), it’s not a big amount but it’s still difficult for some people. Can we request for Community Service subject to stop raising fund. Community service can still proceed and it is not only about raising fund. Thank you.

Tdy ard 1pm theres a gang of people that always seat ard mynews opposite gate 2 which always drinks in day or gambling at mynews seating area. Recently due to the increase in the number of students on campus or due to the increase of programme intakes, the library has been overcrowded, making it hard for students to reserve a space and study in the library. Some of us prefer studying in the silent zone and recently this area has been full of students. There are also some months where exam season is more packed from various programmes. Lack of CCTV in College Foyer – Incident of Lost Belongings and Campus Security Concerns

On 22nd November 2024, around 1:00 PM, I left my belongings (wallet, laptop, chargers, water bottle, phone chargers) on a bench in the college foyer while my friends and I went out for lunch. When we returned at 2:00 PM, my belongings were missing, but my friends' items were still there.

I went to the Lost and Found to report the incident and requested to review the CCTV footage. However, I was told that there are no CCTV cameras in the foyer. When I asked why, I was informed that the decision was made to protect “student privacy.”

While I understand privacy concerns, the absence of cameras in a public area like the foyer puts students and their belongings at risk. A lack of surveillance means there’s no way to investigate or prevent such incidents. If something terrible were to happen in the foyer, would the answer still be “student privacy” when there is no camera to provide security or evidence?

In addition, I’ve noticed a significant decline in campus security over time. Two years ago, students were required to undergo security checks, and only those with valid student IDs were allowed to enter. Now, it seems that outsiders can freely come and go without any checks. This makes me question the safety and security of the entire campus.

As a student, I’m concerned about how safe we really are on campus. If I were to recommend Sunway University to my siblings, family, or friends, how could I reassure them that they are secure when the campus lacks proper surveillance and security measures?

I’ve filed a police report regarding this matter, and I strongly urge the university to reconsider its stance on CCTV in public spaces and to take immediate steps to improve campus security. Our safety should be a priority.
