The newest forms of media, like social media and blogging, have changed the ways that the fashion industry functions.

Everything is now offered online and it has given brands the chance to reach their desired audience in quick and effective ways. Where magazines were first only in print form, most magazine companies now have their own websites and social media accounts where they can post online functions.

This has helped develop a strong relationship between consumers and brands because it is easier for consumers to communicate about what they want, and has made it easier for brands to respond.

Schecher, Jenny. “Here's How Social Media Has Changed The Fashion Industry.” The Millennium Alliance, 19 Jan. 2018, mill-all.com/blog/2018/01/19/heres-how-social-media-has-changed-the-fashion-industry/.

The definition of fashion is the prevailing style (as in dress) during a particular time, according to Webster Dictionary. It’s both an art and a science because it thrives from creativity and it advances through technology. Fashion is always moving fast and now because of new media, it’s moving even faster. Different things influence what the current fashion is at the time. Like,

*Economy
*Politics
*Current events
*Entertainments
*Lifestyle
*Social Structure

All of these things determine what the fashion is at the time because they all influence what is going on in everyday society during a particular time.

The relationship between fashion and media is not a new thing. They have been working hand in hand together since the eighteenth century.

In the beginning, fashion would primarily use print media in the form of newspaper. It could be mass-produced the cheapest and quickest.

With the invention of photography in the late 1820s, it helped boost a new idea of capturing fashion. Photography in fashion has been used ever since, and we still see it a lot especially in social media.

When social media was created it sent the whole fashion industry into a new way of showcasing their stuff through media. Because social media is free for companies to use, utilizing a social media account creates the ability to reach millions of consumers, all at no cost.

Using new forms of media, like social media, has helped to advance fashion media.
