I saw that in the short film version of "The Lottery" . I witnessed this by looking at the townspeople's faces. The villagers looked sad and worried, like they just wanted the lottery to be over with. I can also see this by some people in the town talking about other towns that quit the lottery. " 'Some places have already quit lotteries. ' Mrs. Adams said. " 

" ' Over in the north village they're talking of giving up the lottery.' "

These pieces of evidence show that people are aware that other towns are quitting the lottery and that some what to but they don't due to them wanting to keep up tradition.
