at the age of 11, the family moved to the outskirts of seoul at the eve of news that gabriel would become a permanent private chef for another wealthy family in korea. during their tenure, their estate sat plainly with the other wealthy locals, few of which would grow to be some of the most affluent families in the country. carter and gabriel sought to settle there for some time in hopes to funnel money to an otherwise bustling and spry community that was eager to turn the local economy in its favor but the skies turned a meek gray as the enclave's more conservative views on marriage spat venom and distaste for carter and gabriel’s union. they were mocked on the streets, called names in the town hearings, and jake received harassment regarding the fact that he had two fathers - all coming from school peers he thought were his equals and staff who quickly betrayed his trust in the institution he was supposed to receive education from. after living in korea for just 4 years, the family spent the better part of the 2010s and 2020s juggling residence among the united states, the uk, taiwan, canada, and finally resettling back to australia where their hearts felt the most at home. during their escapades, jake took some time off of secondary education for internships and apprenticeships that saw his love for computers bolster.

due to his fathers aptitude for computers and manufacturing, jake developed an immediate affinity for information systems. his brain wired seamlessly to mathematics and physics and he built his first computer at the age of 9 using parts off of an old LG company server system. being accepted to cheongdam academy was… bittersweet, save for how his fathers reacted to jake once again heading back to the country which betrayed their welcome the first time around. yet the educational commitment he was willing to make was sound, and the young man departed for his sophomore year. with his prior university credentials working in tandem to his pragmatic acumen for the field of i.t., he was able to start his secondary schooling career a little later, but slightly farther ahead through a full-ride scholarship. with every measly step that accompanies his saunter through the gates of the academy, his teeth click to himself. he’s become bitter at the high class bureaucracy and elitism that sings fancy along the halls of the academy built on the exploited backs of the working man. whatever lifestyle sat before him garnered dust in his mind. jake’s wealthy, but not first class. he has all the money in the world that he would rather see burn right in front of him, but his fathers’ wishes were simply that of wanting him to make the most out of his education. so jake sees it through. he goes to class, he goes back to his dorm, to class, dorm, class, dorm, class… and with a temperament as reserved as the first-class seating he allots himself back to australia every spring vacation, his sole motivation is simple: “just three more years, and i can dump this place.”
