In 1964 he entered the N.O.I., he changed his name in "Muhammad Ali" and then he entered the sunni-islam.
In 1967 he refuse to fight in the Vietnam War.
In 1981 he has announced his retirement from boxing and in 1984 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome and his condition worsened until his death in 2016.
