         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Sigmund Freud- started the third wave of thinking<br>- we protect ourselves from our real feeling by using defense mechanisms (sensors, barriers)<br>- believed that most of your feelings come from a hidden place in your mind called the unconscious <br>- psychoanalysis- a system of psychological theory and therapy that aims to treat mental disorders by investigating the interaction of conscious and unconscious elements in the mind and bringing repressed fears and conflicts into the conscious mind by techniques such as dream interpretation and free association<br>- Freud believed that people could be cured by making conscious their unconscious thoughts and motivations, thus gaining insight <br>- early 1900's <br>- Freudian Theory- psychoanalytic theory of personality development, which argued that personality is formed through conflicts among three fundamental structures of the human mind: the id, ego, and superego</div>]]></description>
