EXAMPLE 1: For example, many Black women are more comfortable working at home where they are free from micro-aggressions by others they are required to interact with (Onwuamaegbu). Before the pandemic, Black women that would commute to their jobs had to deal with inappropriate questions regarding their appearances and felt the burden of educating others what they didn’t seek out to educate themselves (Onwuamaegbu). With remote work, Black women have been able to choose to turn on their cameras when they feel comfortable or turn them off in a potentially uncomfortable situation (Onwuamaegbu). EXAMPLE 2: Next, the rapid switch to telework prompted companies and employees to invest in their remote work setups, allowing them to comfortably work from home in the future (Barrero et al.). Employees learned to use teleconferencing software that would allow them to communicate with their colleagues and bought supplies such as desks, chairs, or even better computers (Barrero et al.). These educational and physical investments not only are durable but have allowed employees to create a comfortable setup for themselves that can last for many years to come (Barrero et al.). Introduction to topic: There are many benefits to learning a foreign language in elementary. It used to be known that only private schools had foreign language as part of their curriculum. A few benefits that could possibly encourage more elementary schools to include a foreign language as part of their curriculum would be that it boosts academic achievement and research shows that it boosts children in many areas of life. Although some experts say incorporating such a program in Kindergarten may be ineffective, due to some children never fully perfecting one language. There are many advantages and disadvantages to foreign language curriculum like, budgeting and staffing Dual Immersion teachers and ineffectively mastering 2 languages. There are many studies as well that show all the benefits that children can benefit from speaking 2 languages at an early age, like higher math and reading scores, as well as higher achievement test scores.
Thesis: For this reason 2 languages should be incorporated into schools at an early age. So the question is how early is too early and do the pros outweigh the cons?

         To start, Kindergarten or First grade is a great starting age to incorporate a second language. If you can incorporate a second language at home earlier that’s ideal, for those that can’t, at school around 5-7 is a great age to start. Here are some benefits for starting a second language early, it gives children a great head start. Children who learn a second language before the age of five have less fear of making mistakes, which can be an obstacle for those that learn a second language later on in life. Another benefit to starting them earlier is it nurtures their curiosity and social understanding and acceptance. Children who are exposed early tend to have more positive attitudes towards other cultures, as well as it helps improve skills on a child’s academic achievement, like boosting problem-solving, critical, thinking and listening skills. It also shows signs of enhanced creativity and mental flexibility. So these are some of the benefits to learning a second language early on.

            Another benefit to learning a second language is study shows that children who are exposed to a foreign language have improved cognitive abilities, like greater attention, logic & reasoning, and long-term memory. This is an advantage as it results in higher achievement test scores in math, reading, writing and generally they score higher on standardized tests. Policy makers have been expressing the concern about improving students achievement in math and reading, incorporating some kind of program in every school that will teach a second language will benefit the children as well as the academic achievement state scores.
