These traits allow AI to bring immense socioeconomic opportunities, while also posing ethical and socio-economic challenges.

There are four types of AI or AI-based systems: reactive machines, limited memory machines, theory of mind, and self-aware AI.
Reactive machines – has no memory, only responds to different stimuli
Limited memory machines – uses memory to learn and improve its responses
Theory of mind – understands the needs of other intelligent entities

Advantages

Reduces human error – A certain set of algorithms are applied to process the gathered information.
Increases productivity mainly because of its high processing speed.
Faster Decisions – AI technologies can make decisions more precisely and quickly and deliver the results in a faster way, unlike humans, who can let their emotions come in their way of making decisions.
They are able to work in hostile environments unlike humans. They are able to perform dangerous tasks that can be a threat to human health.

Disadvantages

High Cost – As AI is advancing and updating, the hardware and software needs to be updated alongside to meet the latest requirements.
Unemployment – AI is replacing all the human related jobs which can pose as a threat for human employment.
Lacks out of box thinking - Machines can perform only those tasks which they are designed or programmed to do, anything beyond that could result in irrelevant output.
Don’t improve with experience – Humans can grow and learn from their experience but AI machines cannot.

Modern AI starts with the attempts of classical philosopher to characterize human thought as a symbolic method. Yet the field of AI was not officially created until 1956, when the term "artificial intelligence" was coined at a conference in Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
Yet it wasn't that easy to create an artificially smart being. The public funds and investment in the sector have been reduced after many studies have been criticized for advancing in AI – the "AI winter" period between 1974 and 2008.
The scene later revived in the 1980s when the British government partly began to refinance it to compete with the efforts of the Japanese government.
In a competition created by British mathematician, and computer scientist Alan Turing, in 1950 to decide whether an engine is intelligent, the speaking machine "chatboot" Eugene Gostman attracted headlines for tricking judges in believing it was a real skin-and-blood human.
Yet the achievement was controversial with artificial intelligence experts suggesting that one-third of the judges had been abused and stating that it was a youth who spoke English as a second language who could answer certain questions.
