         <description><![CDATA[<p>Simulation exercise on 'blackout' scenario was beneficial in teaching our students to stay calm and to be prepared during emergencies. </p><p>Use of storytelling &amp; roleplay to explain why drills matter</p><p>Good to have PVs helming activity booths during recess. ce. Set aside sufficient time during SS periods for students to complete SLL tasks related to commemorative events. </p><p>Suggestions for activities for TDD: Students create their own Superhero who protects Spore in one area of Total Defence. / Pair with Show-and-Tell</p><p>Classroom Debate / Circle Time: What would you do to keep your family safe in an emergency (Upper Pr)</p><p>Use story or video clip to prompt discussion (Lower Pri)</p><p>Total Defence Wall Display: Students contribute drawings, short notes or photos under each of the 6 pillars.  (This reinforces visual learning and school-wide awareness)</p><p>Day in the life scenario cards: Students are given fictional cards showing different people (teacher, soldier,nurse, hawker) Ask how they each help Singapore.</p><p>IFD- Students wear traditional clothes from different cultures or they can bring an item to share (Builds cultural awareness &amp; pride)</p><p>Friendship Chain: Each student writes a friendship pledge or kind msg on a paper link to build a 'chain' around the classroom. (Fosters SEL, kindness, inclusivity)</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>What has the CCE team done well?</strong><br>The CCE team has done a great job making lessons fun and real by going beyond just textbooks. They use cool things like artefacts, AI tools, videos, props, and role-playing, which really help students connect with the topics. </p><p><strong>Who has impacted me?</strong><br>I’ve been inspired by team members who bring creativity and new ideas to CCE lessons. Their energy pushes me to try different ways to teach and keep students interested.  Thank you for supporting us with the relevant resources which helps to kickstart the process. </p><p><strong>What are my high points?</strong><br>My best moments are when I see students excited and involved during activities like role-plays or when using AI tools. It feels great to know they’re learning values in a way that really sticks with them.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>One challenge I face is a student who is scared or uncomfortable with history, particularly when exposed to old pictures and videos. I have to keep that child in mind and be mindful about showing too many visuals. </p><p><br/></p><p>Additionally, some students struggle with language barriers, which makes the Social Studies content feel heavy or overwhelming for them. Managing these differing needs while keeping the whole class engaged is sometimes challenging.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>The blackout simulation exercise was very helpful in teaching students how to stay calm and be prepared during emergencies.</p></li><li><p>Storytelling and roleplay were effective methods to explain the importance of safety drills in a relatable way.</p></li><li><p>Having PVs manage activity booths during recess created an engaging and interactive environment for students</p><p><strong>Suggestions</strong> </p><p>TTD -</p></li><li><p><mark>Escape Room</mark><strong><mark> - </mark></strong><mark>Create a simple classroom escape room with puzzles and clues related to the six pillars of Total Defence. Students work in teams to “escape” by solving challenges linked to each pillar.</mark></p></li><li><p>Invite firefighters, policemen, or army veterans to talk about their role in protecting Singapore, making the concept more real and inspiring.</p><p><br/></p><p>IFD - </p></li><li><p>World Map Activity -Use a large world map where students pin where their families come from or places they’ve visited, sparking conversations about diversity and connection.</p></li><li><p><mark>Collaborate on a mural or big art piece that represents friendship and unity, with each student contributing their own drawing or handprint (did this for Girl Guides event - it was fun)</mark></p></li></ul>]]></description>
