Most popular music need pay for. Sometimes a song was free, but after a show the song became popular, you will find you need to pay for downloading the same song. I am fine with this decision as long as the price is in reasonable range. 
I think free download make people have no worry to download the music of emerging musicians, that will make them more popular,besides it could give us more chance to enjoy different type of music.But it`s just for original one, I think unauthorized free music is rip off the original.
And in some situation, which artist or company spend a lot of efforts on a wonderful composition, it`s worthy to be compensated, it`s a way to show our support and respect to them.
