Another theme is government control, I know this because the capital they make people in other district kill each other for entertainment. I know this because it say "prim! the strangled cry comes out of my throat, and my muscles begin to move again prim!", "I volunteer! I gasp I volunteer as tribute!". At the end of the novel Katniss was scared still and wasn't ready for what would happen next. I know this because it says in the book "Haymitch touches my shoulder. Katniss is in the woods hunting as usual with gale before the reaping. during the reaping Katniss sister Prim got called, but Katniss volunteered as tribute and another guy Peeta got called for tribute. Before the games Katniss and Peeta go to train in the capitol with the other tributes. After a week of training and interviews Katniss and Peeta entered the games. The first day of the games most of the tributes died and Peeta gets with the upper district called the careers and Katniss teamed up with a little girl named Rue. Rue then died from a boy in district 1. Then a new rule for the games said if two of the people in same districts survive then they both win. So Peeta and Katniss teamed up and most of the other tributes are dead. Then wolves that look like the dead tributes came to kill Peeta, Katniss and Cato. After a big fight with Peeta, Katniss and Cato, Cato lost his balance on the capitol bell and fell into the wolves and Cato gets killed by the wolves. Katniss didn't hear the announcement for them to win but they did hear a woman saying only one tribute could stay alive. Katniss had an idea to eat the berries that kill people when eaten, to eat them with Peeta so the games won't get a winner. When they both put the berries in their mouth the woman said that they can both live. overall I was curious when I finished reading the novel because, Katniss doesn't want to let go of Peeta but, she doesn't like him so why is she so worried. My favorite part was when Thresh saved Katniss life instead of killing her because Thresh isn't a evil guy he just wanted to owe her back for what she did for him. If I could change one thing, it would be Peeta being really weak and not being about to fight for himself because Peeta gives Katniss so much pressure to keep him alive while he doesn't do a single helpful thing for her to survive. One technique the author used that I liked was the imagery because I can set the settings and backgrounds so I can understand the book better. One example of this is when it says, "I open my eyes and find the stars fading in the pale light of dawn."
