Then you dip the film in a series of solutions; developer, stop bath which neutralizes the developer, fixer, hypo, then finally it's rinsed with water. This then gives you the negative image, so to get the positive image you have to shine a light through negative onto a photosensitive paper. With one negative you can make however many positive copies as you would like.
