I am Nest + M parent and am grateful for your letter that you shared with us. It is critical that our community is informed of the details of any attack on any of its members, no matter how horrible it may be.  None of the actions which targeted your organization, its members and African Americans will be tolerated or swept under the rug.  Please know the Nest + M community is behind you and beside you.  Your efforts to not make this incident overshadow the focus on celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans this month is courageous and part of the path to overcome actions of hate.

One of the most profound interviews that I experienced this year was from a young activist who stated that even though the work is never done, this chapter of life where racist oppression and control of people of color is closer to over because of the brilliance of young people of color that are unafraid and will not retreat from such hatred. Because of all of you and the ripples you are making, we will all be okay and will protect you along the way.
