Hello! Today we will be presenting our mini project on how Europeans have cultural attitudes towards Africans. The reason for the Cultural attitudes is so that Europe can colonize Africa. I know that it is a bit of a sad topic but we agree that this is the main reason why Eurupeans are colonizing Africa. In 1500s and the 1800s, europeans in Africa were mostly there to buy and trade slaves. Even though as sad as it is, it is true. Europeans were constantly traveling to africa to buy and trade slaves. They almost never would get off of the ships due to the fact that there was a high chance of them catching malaria. The CDC website states that malaria may cause anemia and jaundice. What these too do is cause yellow coloring of the skin and eyes because of the loss of red blood cells. In 1807, the british outlawed the slave trade, and so the continet of Europe started to drift towards imperialism, but then as late as 1833 the slave trade was then banned. European countries started to try and create more colonies. European countries then started to colonize Africa not due to the technology or the resources but due to the cultural attitudes towards Africans.

Thank you very much for listening to our entire presentation! Now my job is to just give a little summary of what we just read. Just in case you have just forgotten but our main cause for why we think Europeans are colonizing Africa is because of the cultural attitudes towards them. After saying all of this here is a big main summary of why Europeans have cultural attitudes towards Africans. The first one is Europeans would think of Africans as really poor and lived in really undeveloped places. Our second piece of evidence is on how there are comments about how Africans are gloomy and miserable people that need to be colonized. Then another piece of evidence is how the Africans were portrayed by the Eurpeans. The Europeans were thinking that it was their burden/problem - (the White Man's Burden) to take care of the Africans such as give them food, clothing, or resources because they were viewed as uncivilized or as savages. So after all of that this is why we think that the scramble for Africa was caused by Europeans cultural attitudes towards Africans.
