We’re sophisticated - cool to the point of not feeling anything.”
How do societal divisions affect communities this. Division affects communities like the greasers who see them fighting over their money. But the communities that don’t know anything don’t see them as bad people. But the Socs try to hide their secret problems.

“No Johnny not my hair! It was my pride. It was long and silly. Our hair was tuff we didn’t use to much grease on it. Our hair labeled us as greasers the one thing we were proud of. Maybe we couldn’t have Corvairs or madras shirts. But we could have hair” this quote tells pony of what he truly is. And he finds his hair as his main identity to him being a greaser and he thought his hair was his pride. The only thing he was proud about and Ponyboy didn’t want to get rid of it. This shows what makes up a persons identity.
