         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Industries and industrial sites across the world are a major contributor to water pollution. Many industrial sites produce waste in the form of toxic chemicals and pollutants, and though regulated, some still do not have proper waste management systems in place. In those rare cases, industrial waste is dumped into nearby freshwater systems. When industrial waste is not treated properly (or worse, not treated at all), it can very easily pollute the freshwater systems that it comes into contact with.&nbsp;<br>Industrial waste from agricultural sites, mines and manufacturing plants can make its way into rivers, streams and other bodies of water that lead directly to the sea. The toxic chemicals in the waste produced by these industries not only have the potential to make water unsafe for human consumption, they can also cause the temperature in freshwater systems to change, making them dangerous for many water dwelling organisms.<br>Other than that,Water also is used as a cooling agent to cool down generators in industrial factories and hydroelectric power generator plants. The hot water produced is then discharged into rivers or lakes causing thermal water is unsuitable for aquatic habitats. As the temperature of water rises, the dissolved oxygen content in the water will decrease and threaten the survival of aquatic lives.The increased temperature of the river water is unsuitable for aquatic habitats<br>Thermal pollution endangers the lives of aquatic organisms and is also hazardous to the environment. The rise in water temperature disrupts biochemical processes of aquatic organisms as fish and other aquatic animals normally live in a range of certain temperature. For example, the increase of water temperature can cause early hatchery of fish eggs or worse, they fail to hatch. For certain species, a drastic increase of water temperature can cause instant death .Furthermore, for organisms such as algae, higher temperature enhances their growth and consequently, raises the BOD level.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

The toxic chemicals may change the color of water, increase the number of minerals, called eutrophication, change the temperature of water, and pose a severe hazard to water organisms.The burning of&nbsp; fossil fuels also will cause water pollution. Fossil fuels like coal and oil, when burnt, produce a substantial amount of ash in the atmosphere. The particles which contains toxic chemicals when mixed with water vapor result in acid rain. Also carbon dioxide is released from the burning of fossil fuels, which can results in global warming.Other than that chemical fertilizers and pesticides also will cause water pollution. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used by farmers to protect crops from insects and bacterias. They are useful for the plant's growth. However, when the chemicals are mixed up with water,they produce harmful pollutants for plants and animals.Also,when it rains, the chemicals mix up with rainwater and flow down into rivers and canals which pose serious damages for aquatic animals.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Waste from industry and domestic contains the waste from sewage, factory, garbages and oil.&nbsp;<br>- These waste will dissolve in water and causing the rate of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) is high.&nbsp;<br>- Biochemical oxygen demand is the total amount of oxygen needed by microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi to decompose organic materials in water.&nbsp;<br>- So, a high biochemical oxygen demand level shows that, the quality of water is low.&nbsp;<br>- The low quality of water will lead to the spread of diseases such as cholera, hepatitis A and thypoid which will affect human health and will also cause many deaths.&nbsp;<br>- Beside that, the low quality of water also affect living things because low quality of water contains toxic substances that will cause the plants and animals die.&nbsp;<br>- Other than that, if the low quality of water is bad and the pollution is very large-scaled, huge numbers of fish, birds and other animals will die.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Excessive usage of nitrate and phosphate fertilisers in agricultural activities and other factors can also cause eutrophication. Excess nitrate and phosphate residuals flow into lakes and rivers with the help of rain water. The increase in nitrate and phosphate stimulates rapid growth of algae and covering up the water surface. This condition is known as eutrophication. This situation will reduces the penetration of sunlight into the water. The rate of photosynthesis of aquatic plants slows down and the content of dissolved oxygen in the water decreases. This causes aquatic plants and animals to die. The abundance of algae and the death of aquatic organisms also cause a rise in the population of decomposer bacteria. Decomposer bacteria disintegrate dead aquatic plants and animals in the presence of oxygen, which causes an excessive oxygen reduction in the water. This increases the level of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).</div>]]></description>
