Like "a warm coat" or "thick socks", simple things we use to keep ourselves comfortable on a cold day. It then goes into the next stanza with the words "I Love You", this is where the poem begins to pick up. The second stanza continues to list simple things we do each day to stay happy. Using "I Love You" again to transition to the third stanza where the poem assures the reader that it will be there forever, and as long as the reader keeps the poem somewhere safe it will be there whenever you are in need of deeper comfort. "I Love You" is the main focus and the whole basis of the poem. Since it is reaching out to those who may need a little extra comfort, the speaker position is open to be whoever the reader needs it to be. The reader can imagine the speaker to be their parent, significant other, or even just a friend. The tone throughout the poem is very light, positive, and loving. This poem has to feel very welcoming for the readers to understand the message thats being conveyed. The simple words "I Love You" help to convey this positive tone, followed by the way the poem describes certain things. For example a full stomach on a cold day, or a warm jacket on a cold day. Those things are examples of when people are most comfortable. Baca compares the poem he is writing to a scarf, warm coat, and a full stomach. These comparisons are the metaphors he decides to use to help further convey his message. I think that Baca uses multiple metaphors and examples of comfort items so the poem would be relatable for anyone at some point in the poem. Maybe not everyone likes a warm coat, or fuzzy socks, or a full stomach. But at least one of those examples has to touch the reader, maybe not all of them will be relatable but at least one of them should be.
