         <description><![CDATA[<div>Rodney King was beaten by police in march 3rd, 1991. the police was trying to pull him over and when he did they arrested him and beaten him more than 50 times leaving him with permanent brain damage and had other health problems. He died in 2012 when he was 47 years old. people was video evidence of police beating Rodney and it sparked a protest. It was effective since the 2 officers involved were arrested. George W. Bush called the officers act "sickening" and the marked the protesters as "revolting'. The main goal of this protest was to stop police brutality.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Amadou was shot and killed when officers saw and thought that he had a gun but it was his wallet. thousands of people marched down in a peaceful protest after the 2 officers were acquitted. This made the street crime unit of NYPD get disbanded as they were criticized for stopping African Americans and hispanic in high numbers</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>on november 23rd, 2006 Sean Bell and 2 of his friends were shot at by officers a few hours before Bell's wedding. After people saw Joseph Guzman and Trent benefield strapped to their hospital beds, it drew massive outrage. charges were pressed against 3 out of 5 officers involved but none were found guilty. this sparked a peaceful protest and civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton address the press  during demonstration saying "Some in the media seemed disappointed, they wanted us to play into the hoodlum, thug stereotypes. We can be angry without being mad."</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>on december 10trh, 2011 Anthony was shot dead of the reason being that he was running away from officer Jason Stockley after being suspected of dealing drugs. The decision to acquit Stockley sparked days long protests. It changed society because stockley was not found guilty but Smith's family was awarded $900,000 of the reason of being  wrongful death lawsuit and later the case reopened as the defendandts witheld DNA evidence of Stockley planting a gun on Smith car</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>on july 17, 2014 officer Daniel Pantaleo placed Eric in a chokehold similar to Floyd's. He told the officer that he couldn't breath and he died later on. peaceful protest bork out as the grand jury's decision not to indict Pantaleo. Pantaleo was fired 5 years later after a trial was started by the CCRB. On june 8th the NY assembly voted to pass a bill named after Garner that criminalizes the police use of chokeholds. This is 5 year later than the first version of this bill that has been drafted in response of Erics death.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>on august 9th, 2014 Michael was shot to death by officer Darren Wilson who had caught him stealing small cigars. Wilson shot Michael 12 times and as not convicted for the murder. a wave of violent protest rose up after finding out Michael's death and the jury's decision to not arrest Wilson. The changed was that president Barack Obama shut down the 1033 program which allowed police to use militarized weapons but in 2017 president Donald Trump restored the program.</div>]]></description>
