Theodore Roosevelt:
Hey, I recently read your book How the Other Half Lives

Me:
Oh really! What'd you think?

Theodore Rooosevelt:
It was really eye opening... I'd like to help.

Jacob Riis would probably have a conversation with Theodore Roosevelt because when Jacob Riis published his book Roosevelt had reached out to him about helping the New York Slums. In today's time this communication could be through text messages. Now I understand that it is unlikely the President would text you but this is a good example of a conversation that could have happened between these two historical figure.

1. My Camera Never Lies by Buzz Fizz
"My camera never lies
So I'll put you in the picture and cut it down to size
My camera never lies anymore
'Cause there's nothing worth lying for"
This song was chosen because it is a song that Riis could really relate to. His photography showed the truth of the corrupted country. His camera never lied just as the lyrics state.

2. Picture this by Blondie
"Picture this, a day in December
Picuture this freezing cold weather, you got clouds on your lids and you'd be on the skids"
This song was chosen because it explains how the slums could have lived. They had no shelter and if they did it was not very good. In New York it does it cold so when it says a day in December and freezing cold weather it is how the Slums lived. It gave his a way to connect to the people who's story he was telling and understand their pain.

3. People Take Pictures of Each Other by The Kinks
"People take pictures of each other, Just to prove that they really existed"
This song was also chosen because it is explaining this time in history. He could want to listen to it because it shared his same thoughts. He took pictures to show what really happened. "prove that they really existed" He would agree with the song and enjoy listening to it.
