The motivations revolve around trying to find his sense of self, trying to deal with in the present as well. Charlies role was to be both an observer and be apart of the coming-of-age experiences of high school.

10 stars out of 5. I love the book and I love the movie. However, the book pointed out and expressed so much more than the movie. It truly went into detail about every little thing and the emotions Charlie felt. It truly was a first person narrative. The book also shows what a true day to day teenager truly goes through and the trauma they have to carry.
