III. ACTITUDES ESTRATÉGICAS DE LA FUNCIÓN DE PRODUCCIÓN


Siguiendo a Díez de Castro, Galán y Martín (2002), podemos establecer cuatro niveles de influencia de la estrategia de producción en la estrategia global de la empresa.
  • - Primer Nivel: Neutralidad Interna, donde el papel de la función de producción es secundario y se ocupa de responder adecuadamente a las peticiones y directrices establecidas por al alta dirección, de manera que no se cometan errores relevantes que afecten negativamente a la posición competitiva de la organización.
  • - Segundo Nivel: Neutralidad Externa. Se busca una función de producción tan competitiva como las de los competidores, por lo que hay que otorgar especial atención a las innovaciones introducidas por éstos, para garantizar, al menos, una situación de igualdad.
  • - Tercer nivel: Apoyo Interno. Se pretende que la estrategia de operaciones apoye a la estrategia global de la empresa para alcanzar y mantener ventajas competitivas, aunque éstas no estén vinculadas estrechamente con la producción.
  • - Cuarto Nivel: Apoyo Externo. La política de inversiones de la empresa se centra en mejorar la tecnología y la gestión de las operaciones, para conseguir diferenciaciones respecto a los competidores en precio, calidad, servicio al cliente, rapidez en la entrega de pedidos, etc.
