romeo attended the ball at the capulet's place in hopes of seeing rosaline there, however juliet caught his attention. when they first met, they fell in love with each other and kissed twice before they were interrupted by the nurse. juliet was curious as to who romeo was and she found out he was a montague, but still loved him.

once romeo got back from the capulets' house, he immediately went to visit the priest friar lawrence, asking for permission to marry juliet. the friar agrees because he hopes it will end the hatred between the two families. romeo and juliet have a small secret wedding the next day.

after romeo and juliet's wedding, tybalt finds romeo and tries to get romeo to fight him, but romeo refuses. tybalt doesn't care, and still beats romeo. mercutio stands up to tybalt for romeo, which gets him killed. shortly after this, romeo stabbed tybalt to his death.

after romeo kills tybalt, he immediately went to the friar. he finds out he has been banished from verona, rather than being executed. romeo thinks getting banished is worse because he will never see juliet again.

juliet is heartbroken that her husband killed her cousin, and she also is under pressure from her father to get married to paris.  she goes to the friar for help, and they come up with a plan for juliet to fake her own death so she can run away with romeo. however, the message from the friar about the plan never delivered to romeo.

since romeo didn't know about the friars plan, he was shocked to see juliet lying in the tomb. he saw the poison juliet had and drank it all. soon, juliet woke up and was devastated when she saw romeo's corpse laying next to her. she gave him one last kiss to romeo before stabbing herself.
