This protects people from the police. this means that the police has to have a search warrant if they want to search through their house.

- Double jeopardy- You cannot be charged for the same crime twice (criminal court). 
- Do Process- You get arrested and they have to tell you your rights and that they can keep you for 72 hours. Cannot be deprived of the process within the legal system.
- Eminent domain- If anything is on your property they take it, but they have to pay for it.

The sixth amendment is basically saying that the person convicted of a crime has the right to a speedy and fair trial.

This is like a jury trial for civil cases in federal court. However, now these days that is not active most of the time.

This amendment guarantees that rights that are not specifically written in the constitution may be retained by the people. Just because it is not written doesn't mean it is not true so the law still exists.
