The intended audience for this article is most likely veterinarian practitioners, but also pet owners. People who own pets are one of the intended audiences for this article because most people will take their animal to see a vet at some point in its lifetime. In the article, in the code of conduct section, one of the subheadings is "Prioritizing patient welfare in balance with client needs and public safety". The rules and guidelines that a veterinarian has to follow in this section mainly are providing evidence to the client as they diagnose and treat the patient.

The way pathos is incorporated into this article isn't as clear to identify, but it is in the wording that the AVMA used to make the impression upon the reader that licensed veterinarians in the United States are held to a higher standard of professionalism than just taking care of an animal as needed and only as needed. The language used can be thought as a way to persuade the reader that veterinarians are trustworthy and want to build a relationship with their clients.

An example of logos within this article is within the code that states, "A veterinarian should continue to study, apply, and advance scientific knowledge, and remain committed to veterinary medical education." This can be identified as logos because it provides the reader with the knowledge that any licensed veterinarian is expected to keep up to date with the newest scientific studies and any new information as well as any pre existing information which is based on logic as well as solid facts rather than opinions.
