The famous Treaty of Versailles was the document produced at the Peace Conference that was signed June 28th, 1919. This date signifies, and is properly labelled, the end of World War 1. The Treaty of Versailles held Germany responsible for starting the war and gave harsh punishments like loss of territory, massive payments and small army. I, Anoosha, am learning French. I enjoy learning and speaking French. In Paris, France, I will be able to speak with the locals and improve my French. I also enjoy the Parisian desserts, such as crepes.

Historical
Paris has historical significance for the French Revolution. The French Revolution had a major impact on France and shaped many aspects of society like politics and religion. Because of how much of an impact the French Revolution had, we decided it would be cool to take a trip where it took place. 

Literary
This year we read the book Les Misérables by Victor Hugo which took place in and around Paris, France. Because of how influential this book was and how widely read it is, we decided that something as big as this should go on our list. That way we can explore the city of Paris and experience the culture that was described in the books.

The Swiss Alps are supposed to be the most stunning and both of us wanted to explore and experience them in person. Romeo and Juliet, a famous play written by virtuoso playwright Shakespeare, is set in Verona. We had the wonderful opportunity to read and analyze this dramatic novel. Florence has a lot of historical value and it also has some literary value. Niccolò Machiavelli, the author of the book The Prince was born in Florence, Italy. He is most famous for being the inspiration behind a Machiavellian rule and the question of whether it is better to be feared or loved. Because of his influential story, we thought it would be a worthy inclusion to see the birthplace of Machiavelli. 

Historical
Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, is home to numerous incredibly talented artisans who started the Renaissance. The Renaissance was a movement that began in the 14th century. It changed the way people believed, painted, thought, and so much more. We had the pleasure to learn all about Renaissance men and art in McDaniels class. Julia and I, Anoosha, would like to visit the Sistine Chapel to see some of the greatest art of all time. 

Personal (Julia)
I ,Julia, am Italian and part of my extended family is still living in Italy, some in Florence. This is significant for me because I would be able to visit my family and see the places where I am from. Also, Italy has amazing architecture and culture which would be incredible to  experience. Anooha and I would both like to see some of the city life in and around Florence.
